| Note #473: getting blind in a game |

 HDR and bloom - these two shitty "real life" effects that effectively waste your GPU power also effective destroy the gameplay. I wanted to disable HDR/bloom in Skyrim since I played for the first time. My patience came to an end when some buggen tomb has made my screen go almost completely dark! First, I thought that was a game feature like a curse, spell, etc. But really... Why the hell?!
There's a SetHDRParameters command:
SHP <Eye Adapt Speed, float> <Eye Adapt Strength, float> <Bloom Radius, float> <Bloom Threshold, float> <Bloom Scale, float> <Target Luminance, float> <Target Luminance, float> <Sunlight Scale, float> <Sky Scale, float>
Intuitively I tried SHP wil all 0s which just made things worse :) Then I came up with simple:
"SHP 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1"
Some people suggest:
"SHP 35 7 7 0.7 3 1 1 1 0.05"
You can also save this line to a short-named text file and run it as batch from the console ("bat mybat");
Why do game developers keep doing really useless, if not annoying things? Mystery. |
